Emotional Freedom Technique or E.F.T

EFT is a simple tapping procedure using the acupuncture meridians of Chinese Medicine to gently realign the body’s energy system, without needles. It contends that the cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body’s energy system.

Emotional Freedom Technique approaches healing through the premise that unresolved emotional issues are probably the cause of physical disease, psychological issues, and limiting beliefs – all leading to unhappiness and suffering. EFT quickly realigns the energy channels/meridians releasing negative memories, and usually the related physical symptoms.

Nine Tapping Points

Nine Meridian Points

The nine meridian points are the areas of your body through which energy flows to maintain balance and good health:

  • Karate chop — the outer side of your palm between your pinky finger and wrist.
  • Top of the head — in the center of your skull.
  • Eyebrow — at the end closest to your nose.
  • Side of the eye — on the outer edge of your eye.
  • Under the eye — below the center of your eye.
  • Under the nose — in the indentation above your upper lip.
  • Chin — in the center of your chin.
  • Beginning of the collarbone — at the end closest to the breastbone.
  • Under the arm — to the side of your chest, about 4 inches below the center of your underarm.
  • Benefits of EFT:
  • Help in Stress
  • Help in Overcoming Anxiety
    Relive the Pain

What can EFT/Tapping help with?

EFT is commonly used to treat post-traumatic stress disorder and other trauma-related conditions. It may also be used as a treatment for anxiety, depression, addiction, and some kinds of physical ailments such as chronic pain. Additionally, EFT may also be helpful for individuals who do not have a mental health condition but who are dealing with specific, short-term emotional challenges.

Tapping

Does E.F.T/Tapping work?

Because EFT is a somewhat new modality and falls under the umbrella of alternative therapy rather than conventional psychology, there is relatively little reliable research on its effectiveness. However, some studies have found that it may be an effective strategy for relieving emotional distress. One study found that EFT helped reduce PTSD symptoms among veterans. Another study found that EFT seems to be an effective treatment for anxiety, while also noting that further evidence is needed to know whether it works as well as other therapies.
